Inspiration Unearthed: Introducing The Miner Collection

For the first time, Levi’s® Vintage Clothing is celebrating its roots as the original outfitter of California miners, the hardworking, adventurous spirits who ventured West to toil deep below ground in the candle-lit mine shafts.  The designers of the Miner and the Miner’s Daughter Collections followed the dusty footprints left by these men and women, exploring abandoned mines in Nevada for inspiration.

While the Miner Collection hearkens back to the soot-smeared men who braved life in the mines day in and day out, the Miner’s Daughter Collection calls to mind the wives and daughters who accompanied the men West. The design team imagined a tough-as-nails woman who might have re-purposed the well-worn men’s clothing, hand-tailoring the tattered items to create clothes to fit her body and taste.

To introduce the Spring/Summer ’13 Collections, Levi’s® Vintage Clothing and San Francisco shop UNIONMADE hosted a special presentation of the archival Levi’s® garments that served as source material for the new pieces. Friends of the brand gathered to celebrate the launch and peruse the new items.
